Highlights

Originating from a World Renowned Surgical Center
We started KēlaHealth from our work within Duke University. It started as an interdisciplinary research project within the Department of Surgery. We brought together surgeons, clinician, researchers, machine learning experts from across the university, as well as software engineers to help prototype the initial concepts. And we were really driven by the desire to be much more proactive about caring for our patients.”

Data-informed Treatment Decisions
As much data as we have today in the electronic health records, it's really about mining the right pieces of information... that determine the risk level of that patient."

On Women Leaders
What I've observed from learning from these role models is the resiliency they start to build from a really early age, coupled with the diversity of skill sets that women foster throughout their careers and their personal lives. It allows women leaders to be effective leaders in normal times, but particularly so in times of crisis.

Surgery in a COVID & Post-COVID World
A lot of hospitals have been reaching out to us to ask, what does a post-COVID surgical unit or ward look like? How do we prepare? ... They’re really needing to stratify patients and understand their risk in a riskier environment.”
